The Letter
As the UK opens up again this month, we have been very grateful here at W&S to be able to be back out meeting friends, eating and drinking and even booking gig tickets. It is early days, but things feel positive in the extreme, and we hope you’re feeling some of that too wherever you are in the world!
Now onto this month’s records: two very special records for you.
Our album is one we’ve been trying to get a hold of for some time, and in the end we managed to persuade the record label, Emotional Rescue to repress it just for us. Vox Populi! was a reasonably obscure 1980’s band that spanned the gap between ethno-industrial, world music and electronica. This album, “Alternatif Realisme,” is a collection of largely unreleased work that concentrates on their later releases, which are more on the electronica/dub/world tip. This is a lovely chilled album that fits well with almost any mood, from dinner party to long solo reading sessions, or just chilling in the garden cloud watching.
Our 12” is even more obscure in that almost nothing is known about the artist or label. Called “Bollywave Edits,” as the name suggests this is a collection of danced-up remixes of classic Bollywood music. Something to put a smile on your face and get your limbs moving, this is the first Bollywood-related release we’ve included in a W&S box, and we suspect it won’t be the last. Enjoy!
