The Letter
Adults are a four-piece indie-punk band who I’ve had the pleasure of seeing live a whole bunch of times in the last year. They have an infectiously raw, bouncy sound that reminds me of some of the best C86 style indie-pop bands of the late 80s, and fill a nice hole that Trust Fund left when they split up a few years ago. Stand out track for me is the closer, Alex Keep Yr Hands to Yrself.

Next up is a little festive treat. Oklahoma-born JD McPherson is best known for fronting The Starkweather Boys, but his solo stuff is pure vintage rock-n-roll infused R&B. This 7” is this year’s single from last year’s Christmas album SOCKS. The A-side, Holly, Carol, Candy & Joy is pure, foot-tapping joy, and the B-side continues in the same vein. How either of these songs haven’t made it into the standard Christmas canon is beyond me. Screw Rockin Around the Christmas Tree, I want more JD.
