Well we got here! The end of the craziest, most volatile year in a long time for the entire planet. I’m not going to go over everything that happened this year; there will be plenty of tv programmes doing enough of that wherever you are in the world, and I’m sure we could all do with a rest from the madness.

The good news is that this year was still a great time for music and vinyl in particular, with sales reaching record highs against CDs in October, and overall vinyl sales jumping by 56% against last year in Black Friday week (1.253 million records sold). We also got 12 amazing Wax and Stamp issues out with genres spanning Afrobeat through funk and soul to indie and experimental electronica, with influences spanning most of the globe.

So, on to this month’s picks. It is always a super huge temptation to include some Christmas music in a December box, but this year we’ve decided to shy away from the obvious and just send you some really really good tunes.

The album this month is a special one. Charles Webster is a producer who has been around since the ‘80s, when he started off producing electro, and has now released music under 30 different pseudonyms with over 500 remixes. “Decision Time” is the first album released under his own name since 2001, and it is worth the wait. It is a beautiful journey of textural electronica, with some amazing guest artists including Shara Nelson, who featured on Massive Attack's classic “Blue Lines,” and Burial, who is well… Burial. Grab yourself some quiet time, a drink or whatever your choice is and lay back to this one.

Our 12” this time around is the 20 Years of Trunk Funk sampler. Trunk Funk is a Swedish label which has been consistently putting out quality electronic and music for you guessed it, 20 years! This 12” gives a nice taster across their offering, showcasing some lovely Swedish house and breakbeat. My pick is Franskild - “Plastic Yacht” for its dreamy breakbeat & old school rave sounds.
